International Day of Non-Posting

Well it probably isn't. It's probably just one of those synchronicity things that seems like more than a coincidence. But strangely enough, none of my regular blog reads have made updates today. Maybe there's a strike and I didn't get the memo.

Anyway, a bit of random web-surfing had to replace my blog-reading during my lunch hour today. And I did find this very cool photo below:

I've finally gotten a little organised (mainly due to the fact that we're havinga few network issues this morning) and started sorting my way through my photos from the last couple of months. I've been working my way backwards, so have managed to get the following events on...

OK, I know it's that quiet period between Christmas and New years when only the people with no famililes or different cultures end up working.

And I know that it's 4.30 and pretty much even those people have jumped ship and buggered off to do something more exciting.

but seriously? The cleaners are vacuuming around me! I feel l ike I'm at that last table at a restaurant at the end of a long night!

More Kodak moments

Woo Hoo!! I'm getting my laptop back tonight so should have some decent stuff worth posting tomorrow (including a couple of longer posts that I wrote before the thing died and that my tech-guy assures me he was able to recover (along with all the rest of my stuff!! Yay!). In the mean time, I thought I'd whet your appetite with a couple of Kodak moments from my sister Mel's wedding. She's the one in the white dress. The other people in the shot are my other siblings. If it was full length you'd be able to see the freak toes.

Otherwise, please feel free to tactfully ignore the fact that I've recycled the same frock for both weddings. You have to do these things when you're travelling. I wore different shoes for each one if that means anything....

Sneak Peak

I'm not even close to sorting my holiday snaps yet, but thought I'd at least tease you with a sneak peek!

This is me and 3 of my high-school buddies, at Rosevears Estate for the reception for the second wedding I attended on my trip. Can you tell we're absolutely freezing? Ah...Tassie weddings!

ha ha! Just kidding. I wouldn't actually do that to you, don't panic.

The birthday was sensational!!! I had pancakes made for me for breakfast...a very good start to the day! Then people arrived and I received a very special present that took a bit of time and effort to set up. Then we headed over to Sydney Park for EarthDance where we sat on a hill in the sun and drank wine all day. Good weather, good company, good music, and a good vibe. What more could a girl ask for?

Thanks to people who gave me lovely gifts (Ronene, Jonathan, Bec, Ceri, Nikki, Nic) and thanks to everyone who helped make the day wonderful...Nic & Mick (who dropped in all the way from Tassie), Jonathan, Ronene, Bec, Ceri & Anton, Marti, Sarah, Bridget, Eva, KT, Dave & Angelica, Jess, and anyone I'm missing out because things got a little hazy towards the end of the day...

2 Sleeps to go!!!

OK, this is the last time you have to put up with a countdown post. Since I'm not online on the weekend, the whole thing will be over and done with by the time I post on Monday.

BTW, are you impressed with that little link? Just bragging because I've figures out how to add them in all neat and attached to a word like that.

A HUGE thanks to Ronene, also, who is responsible for getting my butt into gear and getting me to The Boy From Oz last night (the tickets are each other's gifts for this year).

How bloody sensational is Hugh Jackman?? If I didn't already have a crush on him, I would have had one by the end of the night, and since I already did, it's now an even bigger one! Plus the show itself was even better than I imagined, and Hugh was fantastic in the role (as well as being totally gorgeous). Woohoo!! although I still have Time is a traveller...Tenterfield Saddler...turn you head.... stuck in my head.

New Toy

How good is it when you get a new toy? Especially when you get a new toy and it all works just like you thought it was going to.

I went and bought myself an MP3 player on Saturday. And spent a large part of the weekend downloading music onto it. Yay! It does such a good job. I took it to the gym this morning and listened to it whilst cycling away on the exercise bike and didn't have to listen to Kyle & Jackie O breakfast radio. And then I listened to it on way to the train, and on the train...

I love it! My life now has a soundtrack!

While we're on the topic...

While on the topic of photographs, can I just say how much I love photoshop and Paint and any other program that allows you to quickly and easily alter and mutilate digital photos, or any other sort of picture for that matter. Michele S from work may have created a monster as she is the one who got me a bit inspired. Both of the pictures in this post were actually created for her as punchlines to jokes (trust me, you don't want to know). Maybe it's just me, but diong stuff like this to photos appeals to my sense of humour and I'm pretty glad that we live in an age where we have the technology (obscure reference...and subsequent idea for next theme, watch this space!) to be able to do this sort of stuff without any skill, talent or knowledge! the possibilities are endless! Any challenges?

Life through a lens

I love to take photos. I have always been a fan of photos. I took a photography class through Adult Ed years ago and I (briefly) worked in a photo store when I was in high school (turns out I'm not very good at sitting developing other people's photos all day) with thoughts of becoming a famous photographer.
When I lived in South Africa I took heaps of photos - of my friends, of all the places I visited, and quite a lot of landscapes that contain minutes specks that are lions, elephants, zebras and various other wildlife.
I have 2 websites for my photography - this one http://gallery129166.fotopic.net/ has all my general photos on it. My other one is for my photo diary. This is a thing I do every night at 8pm. An alarm on my phone goes off and reminds me to take a photo of whatever I'm doing. I've actually being doing this on and off for a couple of years but have gone online since last year when my fabulous friends gave me a very swish digital camera as a gift for my significantly round-numbered birthday last year and have been able to take decent quality photographs worth publishing. Recently I found that a couple I took whilst visiting my sister's farm in rural WA actually turned out pretty well and I had them enlarged and properly framed and they now have pride of place on my apartment wall (and are also online here http://gallery129166.fotopic.net/c816241.html if anyone's interested). I have some beach shots that I took a while ago in more modest frames hanging in my bathrooms and I have a couple of my rainforest shots from Mossman Gorge that I'm hoping to do something good with for the bedroom walls.
The thing is, though, is that no matter what sort of an interest you have in something, or how hard you work at it, there's always gonna be someone out there who is just on a different level altogether. My favourite photographer is Peter Lik, and if you enjoy looking at amazing landscape and nature photography, I highly recommend you have a look at his website here:

Sneak Peak

Well, I'm back at work today after my holiday and the beautiful wedding of the lovely Bec and Luke. As always, work is crazier than usual on the first day back as you struggle under mountains of emails and other work that has built up while you are away. So anyway, I have plenty of Blog updates up my sleeve, but I'm afraid today isn't the day they're going to happen. Guess you'll just have to settle for a sneak peak at a couple of snaps from the wedding.
